We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dolly Parton—a remarkable songwriter, performer and humanitarian whose warmth, generosity and music touched lives around the world.
On hearing the news, our choir came together to sing one of Dolly’s songs in her memory. We had never rehearsed or performed it before; it was simply a spontaneous, heartfelt tribute to someone who gave so much joy to so many.
Our Musical Director had the privilege of working with Dolly on Rockstar and at her televised press conference at the Four Seasons in London. He remembers her not only for her extraordinary talent, but also as a genuinely warm, gracious and lovely woman.
Our performance may be unrehearsed, but every note was sung with affection and respect.
Thank you for the music, Dolly. You will be greatly missed.
